General Manager

DESCRIPTION:

Fontaine is looking for a General Manager with strong interpersonal and strategic planning skills to meet and establish connections with key customers and truck manufacturers.  The General Manager ultimately manages the entire operation including labor planning, production scheduling, quality oversight, process improvement, supply ordering and all other items required for successful day to day production. 

 

This position is at our Avon Lake, Ohio location which is focused on modifications to light and medium duty Ford trucks. The General Manager reports to the President of Fontaine Modification Company. 

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Hire/staff, train and develop staff to maximize safety, customer service, and profitability of the operation.

  • Plan, direct, and control all activities of the facility through department managers.

  • Establish, and foster, relationships with business partners and customers to expand and enhance the business.

  • Analyze the truck market and develop sales strategies to capitalize on market conditions.

  • Develop strong sales and operational teams to align with the company’s objectives.

  • Maintain financial oversight of the location.

  • Communicate with executive management regarding operational and financial affairs, and on all significant matters relevant to the company.

  • Ensure company goals and standards of safety, quality and efficiency are met in daily operations.

  • Ensure the branch is in compliance with local, state, and federal government regulations.

 

EDUCATION/COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCES:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.

  • Accounting, Business, Marketing and other degrees also considered.

  • Industry experience considered ILO degree on a case by case basis.

  • Fontaine locations are very fast paced and dynamic environments.

  • We are looking for an aggressive, decisive, self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership skills.            

  • Prior leadership experience in college, social life, athletics, community organizations, etc.  given strong consideration

  • Mechanical aptitude 

  • Our business is trucks.  Having a general mechanical knowledge and interest in trucks, cars, motorcycles, etc. is helpful and tends to be given additional consideration 

  • Experience in automotive / truck sales or production is a plus.

  • Ford Truck experience is a bigger plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, customers, and vendors.

  • Proficient with computer software including Microsoft Office.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship.
