Position Description
This position will primarily be responsible for providing engineering solutions, innovative designs, and production support for Fontaine Modification, at our Dublin Modification Center. Each new opportunity must be engineered and managed on a defined timeline using an analytic approach. The results of each custom application must include an accurate work instruction, bill of material, along with engineering analysis, 3D CAD data, and detailed drawings.
Position Requirements
The Mechanical Engineer will report to the Director of Operations in our Dublin, VA facility and will be responsible for the following job functions:
Utilize proper engineering fundamentals of design and follow standard engineering procedures.

Visual Aids
Create new designs that meet customer needs and adhere to relevant government codes and regulations.
Evaluate designs and make recommendations, based on appearance, safety, budget, and function.
Work directly with the Quality Assurance team on developing specific inspection criteria and audit frequencies.
Work with the OEM Quality Assurance Team to develop additional training for the modification center on manufacturing practices
Work directly with the FMC production staff to clarify a thorough understanding of the QA documentation and expectations
Support FMC sales staff quotations by providing estimates for design time, labor resources, tooling, and material cost to complete projects.
Provide production support as necessary.

Consistently focus on process improvements to increase the safety and efficiency of production.
Understand and follow FMVSS rules and regulations.
Perform a wide range of tasks, responding to changes in direction and priorities, and accepting new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments.
Follow through on internal and external commitments.
Work with all add-on equipment manufacturers to establish application information and installation guidelines
Facilitate add-on equipment manufacturers to provide additional training seminars/sessions for core products
Build cooperation among individuals and departments, share information, and resources, and work to achieve group goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University: Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSET) or equivalent.
1-4 years minimum automotive or commercial truck experience is required.
CAD experience is required (Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, or Catia V5).
Strong understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
An understanding of manufacturing process engineering.
Strong leadership, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with MS Office tools.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
An understanding of Controller Area Network (CAN) – SAE J1939 experience a plus
Capable of moderate travel, approximately 10%
