Engineer

DESCRIPTION:

 

This position is responsible for development of new and existing products at Fontaine Modification Company (FMC). Projects must meet time and budget goals in order to fulfill the requirements of customers and FMC engineering.  Each project requires an accurate work instruction along with bills of material and engineering drawings as needed.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage new engineering projects as directed by facility manager, including:

    • Designing assembly fixtures or parts

    • Writing work instructions for new & existing designs

    • Completing, or updating, bills of material

    • Creating, evaluating & improving production processes to meet build time targets.

  • Design new parts, and make engineering changes subject to approval by the VP of Engineering.

  • Improve quality throughout the modification centers by providing new tools and procedures for each.

  • Develop efficiency improvements in the assigned modification center.

  • Support sales engineers with design and quoting process on first time parts and processes.

  • Support all mod centers with proper documentation that meet FMVSS rules and regulations.

  • Recommend, and help implement, changes in product design and assembly processes to assure a consistent, quality product.

  • Design parts and processes that meet Fontaine’s quality standards.

 

EDUCATION/COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCES:

 

  • Engineering Degree - BSME or BSEE degree preferred.

  • Drafting and design knowledge(Autodesk Inventor preferred).

  • Automotive or truck engineering experience.

  • Some level of understanding with automotive electronics systems (J1939 experience a plus).

  • Capable of moderate travel (approximately 10% to 20%)
